I would like to say, I almost forgot this part of my hike. But in reality it's really hard to forget the intense horrible smell of Mahoosuc Notch in 2007. Why? because there was a dead moose right in the path hikers take to get through this section of trail. When I mention that I've hiked the Appalachian Trail, I'm often asked.... "What section did you hike"? When I follow-up and say the entire thing, the reactions are often amazement and intrigue. Eventually, the discussion turns to what it … [Read more...] about What is the worst smell on a hike you’ve ever experienced?

One comment I often her from people when I mention I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail is "Wow, you must have lots of stories". It's true because of the distance and length of time it takes to hike this wonderful trail, any hiker is bound to have some stories of their experience. Newfound Gap in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the setting for one of Fuzzy Monkey's many stories. I was hiking with Flaxseed at the time, an oriental physician from Boston when we finally made … [Read more...] about Newfound Gap Great Smoky Mountain National Park

I'm really happy I took so many pictures as I often reflect on this experience and who I was with during this awesome time in my … [Read more...] about Bears Den Trail Center – Hostel On The Appalachian Trail
Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy! Yes, I may be a bit late on this post, but better late than never, I was able to dig up my photo from 2007. When I thru-hiked in 2007 I took over 3,000 pictures. Sorting through all these I found the pictures of the completion plaque I took during my trek. I don't remember hiking with anyone at this point so I ended up doing one of those "reach out my arm" to take my picture. From what I remember I ended … [Read more...] about Happy Anniversary to the Appalachian Trail
