So I decided to abandon this years’ CDT thru-hike. But before I completely decide to head home I rented a car and drive around the state of Montana.
My goal was two-fold. I wanted to stay out here long enough to make sure this is what I wanted. I mean, did I just get off to a bad start and would my mindset change after a few days. Would the weather change? Would the hiking bug grab me and demand that I get back out there. Sadly it has not, and it’s time to return home. I’lll be on the next train leaving Sunday and home Monday night.
The second reason I wanted to drive around Montana is so that I could take pictures of Post Offices. My trip out west was not a total failure since I was able to get about 45 post office visits. So although I’m not hiking and feel disappointed in myself for abandoning this hike. My trip was a success in that I have some great material for my other interest “United States Post Offices” I’ll be posting this collection soon at www.postofficefreak.com
