Hello and thanks for joining me. Its time to start analyzing this whole gear list and what I’ll be carrying with me for this trip. The list below is what I already have and what I have already decided on. For those of you just joining me, I’m mixing things up a bit. I’ve changed some gear and lightened up on some things.
For starters I’ve decided to change my backpack. In the past I have carried a little heavier backpack such as an Osprey Atmos to Eddie Bauer backpack. They have served me well and I’ve been completely happy with them. However, in order to expand my knowledge of gear and to lighten up a bit I have decided to try a ULA Equipment backpack.
Another change for me has been my shelter. In the past I have carried a stand-a-lone MSR Hubba tent. I have also used a Big Agnes Savris tent as well. For my CDT hike I’m going with the new 2012 model of Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo tent. This will be the first tent I’ve used that combines using my trekking poles to set up the tent. In an effort to cut down on some of my weight I’ve decided this would be one way to lighten up a bit.
The rest of my gear has yet to be determined but here is what I have in mind so far? Does anyone have any other suggestions or comments? What has worked for you? What didn’t work so well for you? What would you recommend or not recommend? I’d really like to get some feedback.

So I failed to hike the Continental Divide Trail this year. Although I put together a list of the gear I planned on using some items I never used and others I’m well familiar with. As time permits I’m adding more photos and reviews of some of the items. Reflecting on what worked and what didn’t I hope helps you in some way. As always if you have any further questions please fell free to post them below or on the respective post. Happy Hiking!!
