Thanks for joining me.
So it is time to start getting serious about my Continental Divide Thru-hike this year. I’ve decided to switch things up from a gear perspective and have decided to try a new Tent. Today I ordered a Six Moon Design Lunar Solo tent. A few weeks ago I ordered a new ULA Backpack. As I sit here today I’m going over in my mind which gear I’ll be using for this adventure. I’ve started to put together my list and hope to post a blog entry with a list of what I’m bring with me. In the mean time I’ll be waiting for my new Six Moon Design Lunar Solo tent.
There are a few reason’s I’ve chosen to go with this tent, here are three reasons why. Not in any particular order:
- I have never owned or used any gear from Six Moon Design and would like to expand my gear knowledge and experience. I’ve heard people say good things about Six Moon Design products and wanted first hand experience using their Lunar.
- The Lunar has been redesigned according to the Six Moon Design website. Since people have said good things about the older models I can only imagine the bugs have been ironed out and the new design is much better than previous models.
- I an effort to becoming more of an ultralight hiker, I’m looking for lighter equipment. The Lunar Solo is stated to only weigh in at 23 oz. This particular tent can also use trekking poles instead of carrying extra weight with separate tent poles.
My next step is to become comfortable with pitching it. This is a new tent and a new experience for me using trekking poles to pitch the tent. I’m looking forward to testing it out. Follow me on Twitter or Facebook.
