Silverwood lake is one of those teasers when you are hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail. I remember this day for a few reasons. When I first spotted the lake I said to myself how nice, that didn’t take long to get here. Then you keep walking and walking and walking and never seem to get to the campground. See I never checked my map and just figured well, I can see the lake so I’ll just wait to take my break until I get to the beach. I read in my guide-book there was a concession stand so I was looking forward to a burger so sandwich.
Well it really didn’t happen that easily, see because the trail takes you ALL the way around the lake before you reach the beach. I mean several hours of walking before you even get close to the beach. So needless to say by the time I made it to the concession stand I was stared and exhausted. I devoured a cheeseburger, some ice cream and who knows what else.
Nice lake, lots of people. For more information about Silverwood Lake, visit the California State Park website.
