- Which direction did you hike? Where did you start?
My friend Joe and I decided to start at the northern terminus (Bamfield) and head south to (Port Renfrew).
- How long did it take you to hike?
The actual hiking took about 5 full days. We ended up not hiking at all one full day because of the heavy rains. Total time being out on the trail was a little over 6 days.
- I heard they sell crab and cheeseburgers along the trial, what is that about?
I heard this before setting out on this adventure. Yes, it is true some of the locals have a food stand along the trail. Since I was hiking late in the season and I passed this section early in the morning I did not stop or eat at the food stand. When I crossed the Nitnat narrows the local ferry operator sells crab. I’m not really into seafood that much plus the cost ($20/per crab) I felt was high so I passed on this opportunity.
- When did you hike? What time of the year/season?
We started our hike September 20 and I finished September 26. This is known as the shoulder season. According to the park rangers, visitation and crowds significantly drops after September 15th.
- Would you hike it again?
Yes, of course I would. I would also bring warmer clothes. I was kind of miserable towards the end since I had been wet for two days straight.
